Location

Aphrodisias is located just outside the village of Geyre, in Karacasu, Aydın. 

This extraordinarily well-preserved ancient site is open to visitors between 8:30 - 17:30 in the winter (1 Oct - 1 May), and 08:30 - 19:30 in the summer season (1 May - 1 Oct) (please check these times before you visit). Make sure you don’t miss the Sebasteion, Tetrapylon, the Temple of Aphrodite, the Stadium, and the Basilica.  

Unfortunately, the museum on site is currently closed for renovations and is due to be reopened by 2030. 

 From Izmir by car: Take the O-31 (Aydın Highway - toll road) south towards Aydın. Continue west to Kuyucak. Take the exit towards Karacasu, Tavas, onto the D-585, heading south. (There are road signs for Aphrodisias, Karacasu, and Tavas). From this point it is a straight ca 35 km drive to Aphrodisias. The drive takes a total of around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.

 From Denizli by car: Take the D-585 highway north towards Tavas. Once you pass Tavas you will see the signs indicating right for Aphrodisias and Karacasu, from this point it is a straight ca 35 km drive to Aphrodisias. The drive takes a total of around 1.5 hours depending on road conditions.  

From Izmir by public transport: You can take a train or bus to Nazilli. From Nazilli take the dolmuş (minibus) to Karacasu (every 20 minutes). From Karacasu you can either take a taxi or wait for the infrequent dolmuş to Ataeymir and get off at Aphrodisias. The journey will take approximately 4 hours.  

From Denizli by public transport: Take a dolmuş (minibus) to Tavas and then take a taxi to Aphrodisias (30 min drive). The total travel time is ca 2 hours. Unfortunately, there are no public services between Tavas and Aphrodisias. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Denizli to Nazilli and follow the steps above. This journey will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
